It was so sad to hear that Rosa Parks died tonight. Such a strong women whose defiant stance on a bus in 1955 sparked the civil rights movement. Her refusal to stand up because her feet hurt her and because she felt entitled to the same rights as the white people on the bus changed a nation.
"Are you going to stand up?" the bus driver asked.
"No," Parks answered.
"Well, by God, I'm going to have you arrested," the driver said.
"You may do that," Parks responded.
Imagine what we could do if we all had a little bit of Rosa's spirit in us.
God Bless!
I too was saddened to see in the paper yesterday that she had died and listened to an interesting piece about her on NPR while driving to work this morning. What an awesome, courageous woman. I'm certain she had no idea such a small act would bring her such fame.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true Mama. She was just a tired women who needed a seat. That is why it is really so amazing to me. Such a small act; we will never know how our small acts can truly affect people/life/ourselves. One person can make a difference!
