New Preschool Series - Timmy Time

If your child likes Shaun the Sheep, they will undoubtedly like this Timmy Time.

I have never seen Timmy Time but received a screener copy to check out. We watched it yesterday and found it very cute. This morning when it came on TV, my daughter asked to watch it instead of her usual Sponge Bob show. Interesting since I thought this was too young for her. Even my 7 year old stopped to watch it a few times.

What I Can Tell You: This is the perfect show for kids 1-3. The characters are cute, there is no dialogue other than animal sounds and mumbles which I think would have been great for my own kids. These days my 5 year old asks me a lot of questions about animals talking. In every show she watched from babyhood to now, the animals always spoke and it can be confusing for children who need association to learn.

Each episode follows a day in the life of Timmy and his friends in Nursery School. The daily routine is usually disrupted when Timmy or one of the class is naughty, or over inquisitive, or sibling rivalry erupts. For the young animals it's all in the day to day experience of learning about life, friendship and trial and error.

Kids will get a background in the 3 R's
  • Reading - farm signs and pizza menus (all pictorial)
  • Righting - getting back on your feet when you've fallen over
  • Rithmetic - adding up using familiar items such as lettuce, apples etc
