The Secret of the Kells

What I Can Tell You:

Until this review opportunity I had not heard of The Secret of the Kells.

The book of Kells is a hand-written illuminated copy of the New Testament's four Gospels completed by Celtic monks around 800 AD.  It is considered to be the pinnacle of Ireland's national treasures.

The movie was nominated for a 2010 Best Animated Feature and this is for a very good reason. Just look at the work of art that is this movie!

Reading the reviews you may be turned off because they talk about the Christian History and Celtic Mythology. Yes there is religion and history but the the movie is not preachy and the message is not overbearing, underneath all that is a wonderful story of friendship, trust, courage, faith and perseverance!

This is a wonderful movie for children and adults. The 2D graphics and the cool CG animation we know today make for an interesting, colorful, different ride.

My favorite character is Aisling. She reminds me of my daughter, very tiny, fluid, long hair, free spirited, funny and timid at the same time.

This movie gets a 5 out of 5 from me.

The movie will release on October 5th, but you can pre-order from Amazon.
