ReplyDeleteHi Renee! As a member and employee of GS, I can tell you that no girl has to sell cookies. It is completely voluntary, though there may well be pressure from a troop leader. If that's the case, talk to a member of your Council to resolve it. There are many ways that can be handled, but your daughter will never be made to participate in something she doesn't want to do. :)
DeleteWe have been doing Thinking Day for much longer than since 1999! I believe it's been observed for most of GS' 101-year history. Great fun, always, and it really is a great message for girls. (I work for GS and have attended countless Thinking Day celebrations...it's one of my favorite GS events!)

Heather, it was being doing prior than 1999 but was called something besides World Thinking Day. We love it as well. It was so much fun. This was our second year and our girls and I love traveling to the many countries.
