Sometimes Combs Aren't Just For Hair

This past fall we found a beautiful abandoned bee hive that the kids were able to inspect, bring to school and to cubs scouts to show everyone else.

We love how perfect it is with it's symetrical hexagons and newspaper colored layers. So very cool!

Goddess was not afraid to carry it around safely knowing that it was vacant.

  3. Nice design, though I fret for vacant beehives. where did the bees go?

  4. Very cool, although I still have memories of picking up what I thought was a dead bee, but it must have just been sleeping - I got stung!

  5. Actually I believe that's a hornet's nest. We have them try to build their nests near our cabin. They are highly protective of their nest and have extremely painful stings. Unlike bees, they can sting more than once. - Margy
