3 Tips for Making Your Event Run as Smoothly as Possible

Hosting an event Warren OH can be an exciting yet daunting thing. You likely have visions of exactly how you want the day or night to go, but you may be nervous about actually executing it. Event planning and hosting takes a lot of time and work, but it can be worth it in the end. Consider these tips for making your event planning as successful as possible.

1. Plan, Plan, Plan

Planning is essential for success in any venture, and this is especially true when planning an event. You cannot simply show up the day of the event and expect everything to fall into place with no planning. It often takes weeks or months to get everything ready to go. It also helps to have written plans so that you are able to coordinate all aspects of the event.

2. Get an Accurate Headcount

If you are hosting an event where food will be served, gathering an accurate headcount can save you a world of trouble. One of the biggest fears of hosts is running out of food. When you know exactly (or almost exactly) how many people to expect, this aspect of the event will be much less stressful. You can work with a caterer to develop a menu that will work smoothly for the crowd you are hoping to feed.

3. Roll With the Changes

Planning is essential before the event, but flexibility is essential on the day of the event. No matter how much preparation you do, there is bound to be something that goes awry. You can then default to the backup plan and keep enjoying the rest of the day or night. Guests typically do not even notice these small blunders, and you should just let them roll off your shoulders.

When you keep these simple tips in mind, you can be on your way to becoming a pro at hosting any type of event.

LOL Surprise Remix - The O.M.G. Girls Are Going On A So Extra Tour. Our Review and Unboxing Of Lonestar

The 411:

This is my first time checking out an LOL Surprise product. The OMG Remix Girls are 4 dolls Kitty K, Pop BB, Lonestar and Honeylicious. We were sent a Lonestar doll to check out and review. Here is our review.

OMG and cute was all I could say. I LOVE the packaging so much. The blue vinyl that plays with the use of the packaging was so cool! I still have 6 milk crates of albums and I just got myself a new record player so I was really excited to see the album sticking out of the box when I pulled it out of the shipping box.

Lonestar is a "country girl" with her cowboy boots, hat, and tassels. She is adorable with her big green eyes and super long hair.

Since I have never opened an LOL Surprise, I had no idea what to expect and thought there would be 25 little accessories but I believe the stand and clothes she wears in the box are part of the surprises but maybe someone whose little girl loves LOL could tell me.

Since you need the box to play the album I guess you would have to keep the box or maybe the little part that actually holds the album. When I had little kids and they opened their new toys, I couldn't wait to get rid of the boxes simply because of space issues but maybe your little one is a collector and would want to hold onto the box anyway.

While I thought Lonestar was adorable and that little girls would love this doll, her clothes and accessories my 15 year old daughter was concerned with her body and kept saying "why is she shaped like that? This is a little kid toy." My daughter was never into dolls except for the Monster High so that may be why while I was into Barbie so her shape didn't bother me at all. Lonestar is a curvy girl so getting her clothes on wasn't easy. However with that said, I liked how flexible she is. Her hands and fingers are bendable. I use to hate how hard my Barbie hands were. I was able to pose Lonestar's hands on her guitar which I found pretty cool.

All in all, I think littles will love this toy and if I had a little one to buy for would absolutely buy this doll and the 3 others.

How To Revamp Your Master Bathroom

These days, we are spending a lot more time at home. It may not be the center or focal point in your house or apartment, but the master bathroom should, at the very least, be a place of ease, comfort, and style. Below are four tips for revamping your master bathroom.

Organize Everything.

Master bathrooms usually contain a plethora of miscellaneous items, from cleaning supplies to loose hair ties and mini bottles of shampoo. Organizing all of these things in drawers or under the sink will make it easier to find everything when you need it. Plastic bins under the sink will keep things from falling over; jewelry drawer organizers will keep your rings and bracelets from cluttering the counter. You can also set up acrylic boxes to keep your make up organized and easily visible.

Update Your Fixtures.

Updated bathroom fixtures will make the room appear more luxurious. A special touch in your master bathroom can be the addition of brass or brushed nickel faucets or knobs. You can make your master bathroom more relaxing by installing a jetted bathtub or a steam shower. Be careful, the more additions you add, the more you will want to spend extra time in the bathroom.

Add Personal Touches.

It may seem silly to decorate a room that guests probably won't see, but adding personal touches in your master bathroom will make it a more welcome place for you and your significant other. You could put silk flowers in vases, display shells from your beach vacation in ceramic soap dishes, or simply show off your personal perfume collection.

Keep Things Fresh.

Keep scented candles, air fresheners, or potpourri handy in your master bathroom to keep it smelling lovely and not like a typical bathroom.

Enjoy your revamped master bathroom by giving it a makeover with your personal style and preferences.

3 Relaxing Ways To Practice Self-Care in Your Spare Time

Source

Between endless news cycles, striking the right work-life balance and tackling your to-do list, it can be easy to feel stressed, burned out or in need of some personal time these days. Taking some time out to look after your own well-being is fundamental to staying in good health, so although dedicating time to self-care may seem indulgent, it’s a necessity. However, stressing out over setting enough time aside for lengthy care routines would defeat the purpose. Try these easy, relaxing ideas you can squeeze into your spare time.

1. Splurge on a Little Retail Therapy

Sometimes, all you need to cheer you up is a trip to the mall and a few hours spent wandering through the racks. Whether you prefer thrift shops or fine jewelry stores Williamsburg VA, don’t be afraid to occasionally splurge on yourself if there’s enough room in your budget.

2. Take a Hot Shower

If your family is constantly interrupting your work or leisure time with demands and all you need is a little time alone, consider turning your bathroom into an on-demand mini-spa. This doesn’t have to be elaborate – it could mean spending a few extra minutes in a comforting hot shower or indulging in a ten-minute face mask.

3. Make Time for Old Hobbies

Everyone has hobbies they used to love before life got too busy to fit them in. Since hobbies are a great solution to combat boredom and stress, however, it could be worth it to pick up that old book or dust off those old knitting needles when you have a minute. Spending time on hobbies allows you to explore your unique interests and passions.

Managing stress by looking after yourself is more than just relaxing – it’s foundational to optimal health. You don’t have to worry about setting aside an entire day or weekend if your schedule is packed, though. Just fitting in some of these fun ideas wherever you have a few minutes or hours can help improve your emotional wellness and give you much-needed me-time.

How Kids can Halloween and Avoid COVID-19

This Halloween will be a unique one for kids and parents, with concerns about COVID-19 piled on top of the usual warnings about safety. And with Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, parents may feel under pressure to make this year a Halloween to remember.

But there are some simple things we can do to help kids forget we’re still in a pandemic and have safe and COVID-free fun at the same time.

1. Keep up your good COVID-19 habits: avoiding large gatherings, keeping a distance of six feet from others, wearing medical masks or cloth face coverings and washing hands often must continue as it has for the last six months. Remember: a costume mask is not a substitute for a medical mask or cloth face covering.

2. Virtual costume parties & parades: Outdoor costume parades where you can wear medical or cloth masks and practice good social distancing are perfectly safe. You can also take and share photos with friends and turn them into crafts to do at home.

3. Trick or treating: Kids naturally cluster as they go door to door, which poses the greatest potential exposure to COVID so if you are trick or treating, parents need to strictly enforce social distancing, especially among kids who aren’t normally together. Of course, washing hands or using hand sanitizer before and after trick-or-treating is a must.

4. Handing out candy: If you hand out treats to ghosts and goblins who appear at your door, don’t let kids dig their hands into your bowl of candy, which is another potential contact point for COVID. Instead, pitch individual treats into their bags or line up individually prepacked treat bags on a table outside. Don't forget to wear your own mask and perform regular hand hygiene yourself!

5. What to do with candy that comes home: even if your child collects treats from a few well-known neighbors who haven’t tested positive for COVID, you may still want to wipe the candy down or let it sit for a couple days before your child eats it. One parent I know is even replacing her kids’ candy with bags she is buying herself!

What CAN kids do to keep up the fun this year?

1. Spooky movie night: choose your favorite and create a watch party over Zoom or facetime with family and friends!

2. Backyard candy scavenger hunt: take a page from the Easter Bunny and hide treats around the yard and hunt them down – after dark with flashlights will make it even more challenging and scary!

3. Decorate pumpkins: This is one Halloween tradition that's as safe and fun as ever.

4. Halloween-themed meal: take dinner to the next level by decorating a pizza with Halloween-shaped toppings, making candy apples on a stick, or peeling tangerine pumpkins (stick a thin slice of celery on top to look like a stem). Make sure the treats are not choking hazards if you have children under age 3.

Things to avoid:

1. Indoor events, like haunted houses: Anything indoors and involving groups of people is also a potential exposure to COVID, especially when those events involve shouting and screaming (in fun!) because of a good scare.  An outdoor haunted forest or corn maze may be a better option, as long as medical masks or cloth face coverings are used, and physical distancing and one-way walk through are enforced.

2. Sharing/trading candy: This kind of exchange only encourages transmission of germs between people. Especially smart to avoid this year.

Halloween during the COVID-19 pandemic is a chance for you and your children to get creative, and maybe even invent some new traditions for your family! It's also a great opportunity to model flexibility and a positive spirit. If you're excited and make it fun, your kids will enjoy it, too.

The Museum of Forgotten Memories by Anstey Harris

At Hatters Museum of the Wide Wide World, where the animals never age but time takes its toll, one woman must find the courage to overcome the greatest loss of her life—from the author of Goodbye, Paris.

The 411:

It took me a little longer to read this than I thought it would when I first got it. I was really into for the first four chapters. It slowed a bit in the middle but then picked up again. It was really an enjoyable read. Well written with likeable characters and a great storyline.

Our main character Cate has moved to her late husband's family home a sprawling museum that is also one of the main characters in this book. Her and her son Leo must start over again while dealing with the loss of the man in their lives as get their lives back in order.

Cate's husband's suicide has taken its toll and Cate is lost, shot and feels the weight of the world on her shoulders until she finds something and someone to help her heal and deal.

The prose is really beautiful and descriptive. Deep, meaningful and lovely to read out loud. I enjoyed the story very much once I realized this wasn't going to be a book I could get through quickly to move onto the next book. I needed to savor it and not only read it be see it! The words longed to be tasted and when I wasn't re-reading beautiful paragraphs I was enjoying the character of Leo. Cate's son's disability is well written.  As the mother of a son with a disability I found myself wondering if I treat my son like Cate treats Leo. Do I allow him to make his own decisions enough? Do I believe he can take care of himself if he had to? Could he take care of me if necessary as Leo did for Cate? Sometimes we need another person to tell us to take a step back and I appreciated Patch opening Cate's eyes when necessary.

All in all it was a great read by wonderful writer never becoming dark, cheesy or too deep.

How to Create the Perfect Garden Lounge Area

If you have a garden that is big enough for a sizeable patio, big enough to accommodate things like seating and a BBQ, then you have the potential to create the ultimate garden lounge. This can be an outdoor space that you and your family will enjoy for years to come.

You might spend relaxing summer afternoons grilling up food and taking it easy, or perhaps you would like to use the space for outdoor entertaining when friends are around. Whatever your plans are for your garden lounge area, there are a few things you can do to help make the space the best it can be.

Here are a few tips to help you get started with your garden lounge project.

Define the Space

First and foremost, it is important for you to define the space that is to serve as your garden lounge. Having concrete slabs or wooden decking for your patio is only the start of creating this space. You will also want to create a bit more separation from the rest of your garden so as to make it feel more like a lounge.

Start by making sure that the seating you choose contribute to your goal of defining the space. If your seating isnt big enough to fill out the space enough, it can just feel like a few lawn chairs on the patio. There are some great seating options for the outdoors that are more substantial and can almost act like a sofa outside. These larger pieces will truly help to define the space.

Next, consider sectioning off at least a portion of your patio from the rest of your garden with the use of garden screening. You can find a variety of materials and colours for such screening at arbourlandscapesolutions.co.uk.

Find a Focal Point

The key to completing a design for any space is to ensure that there is an eye-catching focal point. This will be the element off which you base all of your other design choices like colours, textures, and layout. When it comes to outdoor spaces, there is no limit to the creative options that you have for such a focal point.

You might wish to incorporate an interesting fountain or other water feature as the focal point for your space. On the other hand, fire pits can also make for the perfect focal point, especially if your goal is to keep everyone centred on the space. Since you are in the great outdoors, you might consider opting for an interesting tree, plant, or even a wall of plants as the centre of your design.

Whatever option you decide to go with, make sure that it is in proportion with the space itself. You want a focal point that helps you to build out the rest of your design, not one that completely overwhelms it and takes it over. If you have a smaller space to work with, stick to an adequately sized piece for the centre of your design.

Why Teaching Toddlers To Tear Is Imporant

Today we worked on tearing paper for our traffic light for letter T. This is a great exercise for toddlers. It isn’t as easy as it looks. Tearing requires strength and endurance in the small muscles in their hands. We kept reminding and modeling how to use their pincher grasp. Just three fingers (thumb, pointer and middle) on both hands are required and that takes a lot of practice. They tend to want to grip and twist. This is an important skill because the children’s non-dominant hand has to assist the dominant hand which will help them when it is time to hold paper as they cut with scissors and when they write with a pencil.

If you want to work with them at home I suggest giving them a bin, box, basket of paper they know they can tear so they don’t start ripping up their books or your important papers. With my Own kids I used our junk mail, scrap paper, and Shoprite flyers.
