100 Candle Game Starring Amy Smart - A Review

The 411:

For some reason a group of adult friends decide to get together and tell each other horror stories then leave the room to stand in front of a mirror and blow one of the candles out.  They hope to not see something behind them.

I did love the storytelling scenes. Each story was a stand alone with some more scary then the others. Some were too long and others too short but all have a solid budget. As a fan of horror none of them were scary. There were no jump scares but still good! There was one story that was told in complete Spanish without any subtitles. A woman in a casket it seems with a cellphone talking to someone but I have no idea how she got there, what she was saying or if she would ever get out. It might have been the most interesting but I have no idea.

My least favorite part was in between stories. I didn't care about the friends! There was no real connection. I don't know why they were together. There should have been some development on them to tie it all together. They are basically just a fill between each short story.

Amityville Poltergeist Is Creepy And Funny

The 411:

This movie started out with promise I mean come on two words from two movies that were cinematic cold  in my eyes. Amityville Horror and Poltergeist are two of my favorites. However, this had nothing to do with either movie and while that was a disappointment that doesn’t mean this movie wasn’t entertaining. In fact, I haven’t laughed so hard at an expected scary scene in a long time.

Jim someone with expressive eyes and I can say this because they focused on his eyes so much I could recognize them in a lineup even if I never see this dude again, takes a job as a house sitter for a woman who says things are happening in her home and her family doesn’t believe her. Jim is about to find out how right the woman is with nightmares and visions of a creepy girl.

Besides Jim we meet his friends who honestly add nothing to the plot. They were completely unnecessary with creepy dialogue and dragged the movie a bit however there is one scene where Jim and Alyson (man I hated this girl. She was a bad friend) are in bed and he wakes. Alyson...oh never mind...it was really the best part in the movie. I laughed HARD. Let’s just leave that right there. It’s the reason to see the movie to me. Hysterical.

Anyway, all in all this is a good one time movie if this is your genre. The images although basic are creepy enough and come on...entertainment comes in many forms.

The Importance of Brushing

Regular dental care is an important part of your overall health and daily wellbeing. If you’ve ever had issues with your teeth you certainly know how much of a hindrance these problems can cause for even normal daily actives such as eating or drinking. Regular checkups at Valley Wide help keep your mouth in excellent health.

Four Reasons Why You Should Brush Your Teeth Regularly

In-between dental appointments there are many ways to help keep your mouth and teeth healthy. One of the most important of these is brushing your teeth regularly.

  1. Keeps Your Breath Fresh: bacteria collects in your mouth without regular brushing which can lead to bad breath. Brushing removes these bacteria and keeps your breath fresh and your mouth clean. These bacteria can also lead to ulcers in addition to impacting your breath.
  2. Helps Prevent Teeth Staining: most modern toothpastes contain cleaning agents which help prevent stains and discoloration to your teeth. Tooth staining can be caused by many things including several materials found in food, beverages, and consumer products.
  3. Protect Your Mouth From Plaque Build Up: without regular brushing plaque builds up in your mouth along with your teeth and gumline. This can lead to sensitive gums, bleeding when you brush, and over a long enough period of time gingivitis and gum disease.
  4. Prevent Expensive Dental Concerns: preventative care can prevent several expensive health issues and this is also true for your teeth. Ignoring regular brushing and tooth care can lead to issues such as cavities which are not only very painful but require extensive time and professional care to properly fix.

How Often Should You Brush?

In general, the American Dental Association advises you should brush your teeth twice a day. Additional care such as flossing and mouth wash help keep your teeth, gums, and mouth in good condition. Also, be sure to use toothpaste that has the ADA seal of approval

Final Thoughts

Your health is of utmost importance and staying current on any of your medical needs and regular checkups can greatly improve your quality of life. Preventative care is also valuable as it helps prevent addressable health concerns from becoming more severe. When going over your healthcare needs your teeth are an easy thing to overlook unless you have a history of dental problems or having a pressing concern such as a cavity. However, by being proactive with your dental care you improve your health and prevent future ailments. If you need dental care visit https://vwdentalhuntsville.com/ to learn more.

January 19 - Christmas Clearance. Cost me $3.00 for these three items. You've got to love sales!!!

January 20 - Making Valentine Crafts. This was for Candy Kisses.  I just shaped carboard into a candy kiss and wrapped them in tin foil. Took a paper towel and shaped it into a heart and allowed the kids stamp their kisses however they wanted. The tag was their name. I loved it so much I will probably do it next year too.

January 21 - Soooo I had a little tummy trouble today. Called my Gastro doc who told me he would call the hospital to make sure everything was okay. After a scan all was well and I was eventually sent home! Thank GOD!

January 22 - This beautiful scene was on my way to work. I had to stop and grab a few pics. I found out later it was because of a helicopter crash with servicemen on it.

January 23 - Journaling in my calendar.

January 24 - Gnome day. I love making these guys!

January 25 - This cutie is done!

January 26  - We have been working on this puzzle for a few days. My boss started something where you do a puzzle, put your name on the box and pass it on. The next person does the same. For a little puzzle this was a challenge.

January 27 - 29 - NADA

January 30 -  One of my top 10 albums!

January 31 - Working on my class Valentine's Day gifts for the families. I love these little Love Bugs and did them last year too. I traced each foot on foam paper and cut them out. Then I used pipe cleaners for antenna and then glued a bunch of hearts for wings and decorations. Their face is the bugs and then I attach a magnet on the back. They are so cute.

My Life In Pictures - January 8 - 18

January 8 - I was early getting to work so got out to take some photos. I love the warm glow of this lantern with the white house and flag!

January 9 -  My daughter found this cute octopus at Walmart and was all "Can I have it?" Ahhhh no honey, you would have to move out of your bedroom. There is only room for one of you!

January 10 -  Back on the album kick. I truly wish I hadn't thrown away all my crates of albums. My husband called me a hoarder so I got rid of them. It is one of my biggest regrets among quite a few that are currently piling up! Oh well, at least I held onto a hand full.

January 11 - Just me! Standing in my classroom waiting for the day to start! I could not wait for these masks situation to end!

January 12 - Acai Bowl for lunch. I used a wonderful Christmas gift card from one of my students. It was truly delicious.

January 13 - I made my class a parking garage for them to manipulate cars into parking spots. It isn't as easy as you think. My class are 2 year olds and they needed some help figuring out how to put the cars between the tape. They love cars so I figured this was a fun way to play with letter P for parking.

January 14 -  NADA

January 15 - My two sock gnomes using Dollar Tree items. It was so much fun and started my latest craze.

January 16 -  My little rocker gnome. I love this guy in his little pea coat and skull cap.  I made him using socks from Dollar Tree, a black sock, Mop and pantyhose over a small ball nose.

Road Head Is A Party Screener & Review

The 411:

This was fun! I haven’t been so entertained in a long time.  It loved the campiness of it. So stupid but so good.  The jokes aren’t always hysterical but the characters are just lighthearted enough to not get on my nerves.  Bloody good time and most of the movie takes place on a blank dry earth landscape.

Knots : A Forced Marriage Story In Theaters Now & Digital June 4th

The 411:

This film/documentary Knots: A Forced Marriage is about 3 different woman all telling their stories. All were forced into marriage at a young age and their tales are damaging, horrifying, and life altering. The fact that this goes on even today is nauseating and it appalls me that many times they are forced by their very own families into loveless, lifeless marriages that they don't want and are not maturely ready for.

All their stories are woven brilliantly and with as much cuth as possible. Whether because of religion or cultural the stories are true and compelling.

I find myself thinking about these brave woman who got out and all the women who are still trapped. What kind of people willingly sign their underage daughters over to predatory, lecherous men?

Enfant Terrible A Film Based On Rainer Werner Fassbinder In Theaters Now

The 411:

Well what I liked about this movie was the same thing I didn't like about it. The actors were all on the greasy side. The sets were all very play like BUT it worked for this.  The abusive, grimy, close ups, seedy locations, major attitude all made for a cinematic tyrant who used and abused people to get what he wanted out of them.

Apparently Werner Fassbinder was not a nice man or according to this film and what I could understand but if you are into this kind of thing I just might like it!

See it in theaters now or On Demand June 15th!

How to Dramatically Improve Your Creativity

At a basic level, creativity is all about finding ways to solveproblems and deal with situations that are thrown our way, however, it can also make you a much more interesting individual. Regardless of your background or experiences in life, everyone can connect on the same level when it comes to creativity, whether it be through artwork, music or design. However, being creative does not come naturally to everyone and it may take some work to reach the level you are happy with. Ultimately, creativity is just like a muscle in the body – it needs to be exercised in order to keep improving your skill. In this guide, we are going to list some of the main ways you can dramatically enhance your creativity:

1. Do something you love

One of the main reasons why you may be stuck when it comes to creativity is that you are unsure of what really makes you tick. However, to get fully in tune with your creative side, you need to find something you are enthusiastic about. Passion and creativity go hand in hand– therefore, if you are trying to partake in an activity that does not give you any sense of joy or fulfilment, you are highly unlikely to get your creative juices flowing.

2. Look for inspiration

Creativity often does not just happen – your everyday experiences, surroundings and individuals you meet can inspire you to endure a creative boost. Constantly staying on the lookout for new sources of inspiration will give you brand newideas and opens your eyes to aspects you may never have been aware ofYou can find inspiration in several ways, including:

• Listening to a piece of music/podcast
• Visiting a museum
• Watching a TV show or movie

Different strategies work for different people, so it is all about which techniques work best for you.

3. Try something new

It is impossible to know exactly what you are capable of if you do not step out of your comfort zone and try something new. In doing so, you will be testing your abilities and potentially developing your skillset to get creative in a whole new way. This may be trying to learn a new instrument, joining an art class or even trying your hand at embroidery. Pledging to invest in the right equipment will set you on the right path. If you would be interested in trying embroidery, for example, you can take a look at a range of tools and materials needed to get started, such as hand embroidery threads

4. Simply do anothing

It may seem like a strange technique to switch off, but you may be wracking your brains so hard that you are not giving yourself the space and time to allow your creativity to unravel naturally. Sometimes our greatest ideas come when we are resting or sleeping because our mind is not overworked or focused on something else. Your mind wanders when you are doing everyday activities such as exercising, driving or taking a shower, so if you are having a creative block right now, do not panic – it will come

Playing Doggie Doo The Pooping Game With Giggling Teens

Doggie Doo is everyone’s favorite pup! Feed your doggie, squeeze the leash, and after he makes his gassy sounds – plop! If you are the player who cleaned up the doo, you get a fart token. The player who has the most tokens at the end of the game wins!

We think kids will love this game. It is wildly and hysterically inappropriate LOL...kids  think bathroom humor is funny and will definitely love the idea of making the dog poop.

To Play:

Insert a pellet into the dogs mouth. Spin the bone into his mouth and insert his leash into his collar these are important or the game will not work.

The youngest person now spins the spinner and presses the leash handle the amount of times they spun. The dog makes a fun noise as they pellet moves down toward the end of the dogs body because what comes in, must come out right?

When the pellet shoots out of doggy's ahhhh lower region, the player gets a token. The player with the most tokens at the end of your playtime wins!

Memoir By The Daughter Of A Teen Mama - Raising and Losing My Remarkable Teenage Mom by Stacey Aaronson - Book Review

The 41

I read this book in two weeks. Stacey's  Mom Bree was a 16 year old teenager exactly the same age as my own daughter. As an older mom I found the story very interesting but sad at times. I had my first at 36 and my second at 38 and cannot imagine the kind of mom I would have been had I been as young as Bree.

Bree and Stacey grew up together with Stacey something feeling as if she were the parent. Bree often looked for Stacey to be her plaything and eventually her friend.  As Stacey grew up the role reversal was more obvious especially in the story with Bree wanting her daughter to stay home from school so they could play and Stacey saying she needed to go to school.

I imagine growing up at times must have felt very confusing with Bree falling for man after man or at least to me that was how it felt. Each new relationship changed the dynamic of mother and daughter depending. Move in with mom, move out and in with dad all depending on the situation. It made me sad for Stacey at times but Stacey appeared to take it in stride and their relationship seemed very solid, loving and respectful of each other.

The short chapters made the story feel very free and real.  I enjoyed reading about Stacey's relationships with the other adults in her life and eventually her and her mother's reconnection as Bree becomes ill.  Definitely a touching book.

A Mother/Daughter bond was exactly what I prayed for losing my own mom when I was 12. Thankfully I have an amazing bond with my now 16 year old and while I keep waiting for the moment it changes because I am so certain it has to this story gave me hope! I know she has to live her life and I want that for her but hopefully we are as close as Bree and Stacey.

4 Gifts to Get Grads Ahead Before They Fall Behind

With more than one million students graduating from college, MyBankTracker.com created a gift-giving list they'll be throwing their caps in the air for, but also make good financial sense:

1. Contribute to a starter emergency fund
College graduates are likely to be entering the real world with plenty of student loan debt as they start their careers and secure a source of income. An emergency fund can offer a small safety net in case anything doesn’t go as expected -- it could keep them from racking up even more debt.

Tip: Steer your grad toward an online savings account; they tend to charge fewer fees and pay higher interest rates.

2. Gift a CD ladder for long-term savings
Grads want to save for things like their first car. Setting them up with a CD ladder makes it easy for them to keep earning interest until they need to use the money. The longer the term, the higher the interest rate; after the maturity date, they can cash it out with interest earned.

Tip: Consider staying on as a joint accountholder to keep an eye on how the money is used.

3. Kick-start a
Roth IRA
Help start a Roth IRA for the grad’s future nest egg. Since these retirement accounts are funded with after-tax dollars, withdrawals are tax-free. Even if the college grad doesn’t max it out in the earlier years, you’re helping to build momentum for retirement savings.

Tip: If young graduates aren’t keen on managing a retirement portfolio yet, steer them towards a robo-advisor that can simplify the process.

4. Gift individual stocks, mutual funds and bonds
Teach them how to invest by gifting individual stock shares or cash for mutual funds or bonds. Not only are you giving a gift, but you’re helping them build wealth. There are sites where you can choose individual shares or ones that allow you to purchase stocks and bonds to transfer directly into the grad's online account

Tip: If you give more than $15,000 to someone in a year, you need to file a gift tax return (IRS Form 709), but, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll owe any gift tax.

Here are Four Alternative College Graduation Financial Gifts Every 20-Something Needs. Happy to connect you with my senior research analyst for other ways grads can get ahead before student loan debt creeps in.

4 Points To Think About When Fitting Commercial Skylights

Commercial skylights can be a real benefit to most types of business premises, offering not only aesthetic advantages but also practical ones.

They are also a costly investment and one that should be considered carefully before taking the plunge.

As important as the windows themselves is how they are fitted, and who you work with to do the installation. An experienced provider will mean that your commercial skylight project goes off without a hitch.

Positioning

When considering putting in a skylight the first point that most people think is that they need to put in as many as possible, to let in as much light as possible. It will be lovely for everyone to get the benefit of the warmth and light of the sun while they are working, right?

Yes, to a point. But if you position your skylight in a place where it gets the sun all day, this can actually mean that the room ends up heating up too much and you create a sort of greenhouse effect. This will leave your employees hot and uncomfortable.

Not only this, but it is actually possible for the sun to damage your skin through the glass. Most types of glass block out the rays that cause you to get a suntan or a sunburn, but they don’t block out the rays, which cause premature ageing of the skin and some forms of cancer.

When positioning your skylight it’s good to bear this in mind, and try to put it somewhere that it will let in a lot of light but won’t be directly under the intensity of the sun.

Aesthetic appeal

The next point to consider is the aesthetic appeal. Installing skylights is a great opportunity to give your business premises a modern look and change the feel of the room.

You can use an octagonal roof lantern if you want to bring sunlight into the center of the room and create an effect comparable to a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Alternatively, a flat-roof skylight will leave dappled sunny reflections all over your room, which will move throughout the day as the sun does.

What functionality do they need?

With commercial skylights it's not all about looks. They serve a number of practical functions too. For example, skylights might be used to provide access to the roof in case maintenance is needed.

They can also be a great way to get some extra ventilation in your building—allowing more airflow without having to have side windows open, which can cause disruptive gusts of air.

Some skylights are also specifically designed with fire safety in mind—allowing smoke to escape through the roof in case of a fire. You can even get skylights that have photovoltaic cells incorporated so that you can use your skylight to generate energy.

Durability

You don’t want to end up replacing your skylights too often, because not only is that expensive, it’s a disruption to your business and it will take up your time on each occasion that it needs to be done.

When you’re shopping around for skylights be sure to check on the expected lifespan of the product. In general, you can expect commercial skylights to last between eight and fifteen years.

Your skylight provider should be able to offer you some kind of guarantee.

Life Vac Can Help You Save A Life #lifevac

As a preschool teacher who takes a safety course every two years and deals with at least two  toddlers a week shoving too much food in their mouth in my classroom, the thought of a child choking and me not being able to save them scares the crap out of me. Most of the kids just need a reminder to spit it out but I have had to do the occasional mouth swipe and get a finger bitten. Grrr...comes with the job. I am just glad it is never life threatening and always very relieved when the child is perfectly fine right after and we can all sit back and breathe.

LifeVac is something I have heard about and was so excited to check it out. Whether parenting, teaching or just at eating with friends the potential of someone choking is always there. It is a real threat and one child dies every five days from choking in the US alone. Sadly, abdominal thrusts work in only approximately 50% of cases prior to EMS arrival. The easy-to-use and proven LifeVac device is a patented choking first-aid device that travels easily wherever you go.

Babies and toddlers are exploring the world, often with their mouths, and mastering the skill of eating. Every mom knows the dreaded sound of their child choking, and sadly children under four are the most likely to choke. The LifeVac device is a non-invasive airway clearance device (ACD) that is used efficiently and quickly. It is portable, lightweight and fits easily in a baby bag, so it can always be on hand.

LifeVac is very simple to use: PLACE. PUSH. PULL.

  • Place the LifeVac device over the mouth and nose to create a seal.
  • Push downward: The one-way valve prevents air from pushing food or objects downward when pressed.
  • Then simply pull to create a one-way suction to remove the lodged food or object in seconds.
  • Watch the video and share with friends to help save lives: www.LifeVac.net

When I brought it into work I went to each classroom so that all the teachers and assistants could try it. It is easy to use and comes with a child, adult and training piece. We all tried it out and read that if the device is easy to remove from the table, you aren't doing it right. It only took us about 2 tries each to get it and everyone was amazed. Hopefully we can get one for every room soon but for now I will be keeping this in the Directors office. We have all been trained but God forbid we can't do it and have to call 911 we have something that will assist us if we just can't get it.  Everyone at my job believes this is a great product and we all want one for home and work!

“I believe in this life saving product and want to help change the statistics around choking,” shares celebrity mom Gretchen Rossi. “I have a LifeVac at home and one in my car as well. I know I can be there for my one-year-old daughter if anything should ever happen, and it personally relieves so much worry for me.”
