Christmas Movie Weekend Started With Sappy Holiday

FilmRise Presents Christmas Titles from Nicely Entertainment – SAPPY HOLIDAY and THE SNOWBALL EFFECT

 On Demand Starting November 25th

I adore Christmas movies. Usually I watch before the family wakes or like this weekend when the kids are busy with their own friends and not looking to watch TV with me. The sappier the movie, the better and Sappy Holiday is sappy. It’s about a woman names Joy who gets stranded at a struggling Maple Syrup farm.  Before this she was sure she knew what she wanted until life gave her a little derailment in the form of an icy road.

Sappy Holiday doesn’t change the recipe for a good holiday movie. Lonely person (working too hard) meets another family who seem to have it all (massive farm house) only to find that everyone has their own struggle. Figures out everyone else’s life while still unsure of their own, leaves for that “before” life only to find out that they miss the new life they found.

I loved it! The characters are likable, no one hurts anyone to get what they want or need and in the end, ugly cry. Yeah! I did. It was a second but it happened. Judge me! I’m fine with that.

After dinner, The Snow Ball Effect unless my daughter wants to watch something else. I will take time with her over my movies.

Hit the slopes in Winter Games 2023 For PC and Game Systems + My Son's Thoughts

Experience ten different winter sports disciplines in the ultimate winter holiday for up to four players.

My son the gamer told me that he thinks playing alone was boring but he could see how playing with up to 4 friends would be exciting especially if you are a die hard gamer. He loves playing against others and spends most of his day doing so.

He felt that the controls were easy to follow, the game has great graphics and he also thought it was fun learning about some sports he didn't even know were a thing. He is now excited to watch the next winter Olympics with us.

See his explanation in the video above. I wish I could play but honestly, I am the worst about trying to navigate games that require hand and eye coordination.

My son thinks it should absolutely be included in my Holiday Gift Guide so I have included it.

Be Prepared For The Cold And Flu Season This Year

I work in childcare which means I am often around little sick people who will cough and sneeze without covering their mouth. It goes with the job. Whether it is a cold, flu, strep, RSV, Pink Eye, Covid, it has been in my classroom and often times, I have no idea. Colds and allergies still exist so I cannot assume that every child in my care has something contagious, but I do everything I can to make sure that whatever is in my classroom doesn't affect me. This means I wash my hands about 100 times a day, wear a mask, wear gloves, don't touch my face, shower as soon as I get home and take off my work clothes. I also try to get 6-7 hours of sleep, take vitamins, drink immunity tea, stock up on cold meds and take my temp when I feel like I am coming down with something.

As we all know whenever we go out we can potentially bring something home to our family this is why I was so excited to check out the MOBI Smart products.

You MUST see Slumberland On Netflix November 18 - A Review #Slumberland #JasonMomoa

THE 411:

Just finished watching Slumberland starring Jason Momoa, Chris O'Dowd and Kyle Chandler.  Which is based on the comic strip, Little Nemo in Slumberland, by Winsor McCay

I am a huge fan of Jason Momoa and was excited to see him in this family friendly movie.

Nemo and her dad live in a lighthouse. They have a wonderful relationship spending all their time together. At bedtime she is entertained as he tells her bedtime stories about his and "Flip's" adventures in Slumberland. One night dad heads out to help rescue a boat and is lost at sea.  Nemo's life changes drastically as she is sent to live with her Dad's brother Philip. What can a girl mourning the loss of her daddy and her hermit, estranged uncle have in common? Absolutely nothing!

Nemo's dreams/nightmares are suddenly her happy place when she meets Flip who is an energetic, often seemingly deranged friend of her dads. Their adventures get off to a bumpy start as Flip is looking for a map to Slumberland that was Nemo's Dad's and makes a promise to Nemo that she will be able to see her father again.  While he cannot fulfil his promise, they eventually find themselves on some fun journeys.

Nemo and Flip need each other to heal and so does Nemo and her uncle. Together the duos rescue each other in the most entertaining way.

I was thoroughly entertained and loved everything about this movie. My daughter and I laughed often and enjoyed the flow of the movie and honestly cannot wait to watch it again and hear what everyone else thinks about it.

Jason Momoa as Flip is truly the best. A cross between Beetlejuice and The Cowardly Lion is how my daughter explains him. This is his calling. He did a great job of being funny, obnoxious and adorable. Jason and Marlow's scenes together were wonderfully fun!

In a nutshell; great cinematography, great sets, great cast, loved the visuals. The butterfly scenes must have taken forever to create.  Oh and before I forget; the PIG OMG...adorable. I couldn't get over how stinking cute it was.

Celebrating 25 Years With My Man #Marriage #anniversary #datenight

My husband and I have been together a long time. We met 31 years ago on 440 in Jersey City. My friend noticed him for me as I had just broken up with a dude and loved long hair guys. She followed him to Bayonne, pushed me out of the car and said "talk to him before he thinks it was me chasing him."  I thought he was okay but not what I was looking for at the moment but got out and talked about his bumper sticker. WSOU Pirate Radio! "Where did you get that sticker?"

He had a guitar case on his back and I was immediately more into him. We exchanged numbers because I knew a lot of band folks and he was looking for a singer.

Here we are 25 years later and 2 kids. We never go out alone, but I had a gift certificate and he mentioned "are we going out to eat for our anniversary?" he even called it a "date night!" gasp!

We made reservations and thank God we did because it was packed. Dinner was expensive but delicious. I drove there and back which makes me super happy! I hate when someone else drives.

He had a Blue Moon and I enjoyed a house sangria which was amazing. I have never been a drinker usually opting for water but drank the whole thing.  I got a charcuterie board and we both got the short ribs.  I had a chocolate tarte with homemade maple ice cream. He was full as he ate lunch and I was like heck no! Dinner!

We enjoyed the place and the company was funny. Hopefully we spend many more dinners together. It has not always been easy but we have always managed to find a way.

Dollar Tree Bubbling Skull #Dollartree #preschoolactivity #halloween

My class loved the bubbling skull we did for Halloween. All the products were from Dollar Tree except the food coloring and baking soda which we had already.

I put a drop of food coloring then each child put two spoons of baking soda into the skull then a syringe of vinegar which was really good for their fine motor skills. I will definitely be doing this again! They loved it and asked for to do it again.

Heart Mind Box - Is A Perfect Gift Idea For Those Into Finding A Mental Balance

The Heart Mind Box is a purposeful gift box, from the Dalai Lama Center for Peach and Education and contacts a selection of ethically sourced products and experiences designed to nurture your Heart-Mind well-being; curated with love.

I was in love with everything about this box. The color red, the beautiful "doors" that opened to products under the red tissue paper that were selected to help the receiver of the box engage in taking care of their mind, soul and body.

In the box there was:

  • A book - The Wisdom of Compassion: Stories of Remarkable Encounters and Timeless Insights written by the Dalai Lama and Victor Chan.
  • Rosewood Mala Bracelets made in Nepal for this very box presented inside a Lokta paper gift box.
  • Loose Tea from the Assam Tea Gardens of India
  • (5) 20 Minute meditation candles and a holder
  • Dot Rock Painting set
  • Laser Engraved Bookmark with a Dalai Lama quote
In every box there is something that will help you connect to others, something that will encourage you to take care of  yourself, and a connection to the science behind well-being... this was probably the black sticks that are a mystery to me.

Definitely a great box for someone or yourself!

The Killing Tree Available NOW - PLUS A REVIEW

 THE KILLING TREE

Deck the halls with blood

THE 411:

I thought the movie started out really strong thanks to Magna played by Gillian Broderick. Magna's love was executed in prison, and she has a plan to bring him back.  Her plan however goes horribly wrong for him, but wonderfully wrong for us. He comes back but is a decorated Christmas Tree full of rage.

The scenes of the tree chasing people or wrapping the lights around them was ridiculously funny and I really enjoyed the cinematography with reflections through the windows.

Can a decorated Christmas Tree be scary? You bet your ass it can!

Adding this to my Holiday line up.

3 Methods Chiropractors Use in Pain Management

Chiropractors use several methods to help patients manage their pain. These include spinal mobilization, Gonstead method, and the activator device. The goal of each method is to stretch the lumbar spine and alleviate pain. Here are some examples of these methods.

Gonstead Method

The Gonstead method is a gentle, accurate, and precise chiropractic technique for pain management. This technique is used to correct vertebrae that are misaligned and ensure that they are in a biomechanically correct position. Practitioners of this technique analyze a patient's case history and evaluate their spinal alignment through x-rays, visualization, and static and motion palpation.

A Gonstead chiropractor begins with a fundamental principle of biomechanics. For example, an engineer knows how important it is to have a strong foundation for a building to be long-lasting and durable. If the foundation is weak or shifts slightly, a structure will not stand up and collapse. The Gonstead method is based on low-force techniques targeting specific spine areas.

First, the chiropractor will assess the range of motion and examine the muscles to correct misalignments. Once this is determined, the chiropractor will use electromechanical impulses to correct the misalignment.

Chiropractic subluxations are caused by misalignments of vertebrae in the spinal column. Misaligned vertebrae strain the spine and prevent it from functioning properly. It can result in an endless list of ailments. The Gonstead technique corrects these problems by restoring joint function and mobility.

A chiropractor's treatment plan will vary depending on the patient's type of condition. Typically, a chiropractic treatment plan includes a combination of manual joint therapy, massage, stretching exercises, and soft-tissue therapies. The Gonstead adjustment is one of the most popular methods used by chiropractors. Realigning the spine reduces pain and inflammation.

Spinal Mobilization

A spinal mobilization is a common form of treatment that chiropractors use to help relieve pain and prepare the spine for adjustments. This method uses gentle, low-force thrusts to help the spine condition and reduce stress. In addition, chiropractors use their fingertips to pull misaligned vertebrae apart gently and can also use a manual tool called an "activator" to help the spine move.

Spinal mobilization is often used to treat disc injuries and can help reduce inflammation in the spine. A patient will lie on a specially designed table while the chiropractor flexes the spine in a pumping rhythm to move the disc away from the nerve and reduce pain.

Another method chiropractors use is "tilt drop," which involves applying downward pressure to a spine joint. This type of manipulation is relatively safe, and the only side effect is temporary muscle soreness. Another common technique is Cox Flexion-Distraction, which uses broad strokes to stretch and pull vertebrae into alignment gently.

Spinal mobilization can also be used as an alternative medicine treatment. Gentle pressure is applied to the spine to encourage free spinal fluid flow. This method is often a good option for pain management and can help reduce a patient's disability index and numeric pain rating score.

Activator Device

The activator device is a method chiropractors use to treat musculoskeletal pain. It uses controlled force to adjust joints and retrain ligaments without causing tense muscles. The device's gentle force can even be applied to small areas, such as wrists and ribs. This allows for better nerve and fluid flow.

This technique has many benefits over manual chiropractic adjustments. Activator technology delivers gentle chiropractic adjustments much faster than the human body can, allowing chiropractors to treat specific, localized areas of pain without causing undue stress. It also requires less force than manual techniques, meaning patients perceive it gentler. Activator technology also requires a small investment in additional equipment and maintenance. This can make it more expensive, however.

Chiropractors use the activator device to correct spinal subluxations, which can cause joint pain and stiffness. It is also used to reduce inflammation and pain in the affected area. It is an effective method of pain management for both children and adults.

The activator device is a small, spring-loaded instrument that delivers a gentle impulse to the spinal joint. These small impulses adjust vertebrae with just enough force to correct misalignments. This technique is safe for the patient and does not interfere with their recovery.
